Fire & Life Safety Consulting
Performance-based design support, occupancy reclassification, life-safety plan review, AHJ variance work — from a contractor with the credentials to sign for it.
Some fire-protection problems aren't solved by buying more equipment — they're solved by reading the code carefully, structuring the argument, and presenting it to the AHJ properly. That's the work.
- Occupancy reclassification. When an existing building is being repurposed, the new occupancy classification under IBC can completely change the fire-protection requirements. We help frame the path.
- Performance-based design support. When prescriptive code creates an impractical outcome, NFPA 101 §5 allows performance-based alternatives. We support the documentation and the AHJ negotiation.
- Variance requests. Where a deviation from prescriptive code is justified, we structure the variance request to land on a yes.
- Plan review prep. Before drawings go to the AHJ, we pre-review for code completeness — catching the issues that would otherwise come back as comments.
- Expert support. For attorneys and owners in fire-protection litigation, we offer technical consulting and (in qualifying cases) expert-witness work.
